A brand is the uniform an organization wears. Digital, paper, the space are all a part of that identity. It begins with establishing symbols and styles which truthfully represent their organization, and grows out from there. The brand process has three main stages:

01/ Brand Foundation

02/ Brand Experience

03/ Brand Manual

 

01/ Brand Foundation

The Brand Foundation sets the direction that everything, from colour to font, must align with. Before we even touch visual styles, the brand foundation must be defined and built. At this stage we’ll look at who you are as an organization, where you want to go, what your competitive landscape looks like, and what brand approach will take you in the direction you’re wanting to go.

 

02/ Brand Experience

Now we get into colours, styles, logos, and graphics! At this stage we look at samples of what the brand could look like based on the Brand Foundation. This presentation basically aims, so much as a screen will allow, to have you experience the overall feel of the potential brand design through examples, and mockups.

 

03/ Brand Manual

Once we’ve aligned on a style in the Brand Experience stage of the process, it’s time for the Brand Experience to become a Brand Manual. A Brand Manual is essentially the rule book for your brand. It specifies all the little rules which must be followed in order for a visual identity to be applied consistently across all applications. The manual includes subjects like proper logo use, approved colours, the type hierarchy, iconography, graphic styles, tone of voice, as well as brand application designs like essential stationary, signage, digital interface, and more.
